Electrical maintenance of main components of combustion turbine / combined cycle power plants

This course provides an insight into the individual electrical components which are needed for the operation of turbine and generator. The course shall clarify the interaction of the components and it enables the staff to operate the plant, to recognize and delimit faults independently and to support the service technician of the manufacturer, respectively.

The training contains a theoretical part about the following components. The course materials are adapted system-specifically.
Generator: structure and function
Excitation system /voltage control
Transformer
Generator- / transformer protection / synchronization
Generator circuit breaker
IPB (isolated phase bus)
Medium and low voltage switchgear: 6kV, 690V, 400V, 110/220V DC
UPS: battery system, charging rectifier, converter, inverter
Miscellaneous components

• Target group: Service staff of a coal fired power plant or combined cycle power plant
• Requirements: Basic knowledge of electrical engineering and practical experience in electrical maintenance
